SAN DIEGO, Calif., Feb. 13, 2015 – Around 100 artists and craftsmen, and international cuisine chefs, will participate in the Latin American Art Festival on March 21 and 22 at NTC Liberty Station.

The public is invited and admission is free to the festival, which also seeks to attract gallery owners and collectors interested in expanding their Latin American works. A significant number of artists living inside and outside of the United States will participate in the event, whose slogan is “Let your art represent your country.”

Internationally recognized artists include María Aeberhard, from Argentina, who has exhibited from Southern California to southern France.

“My life is chaos, life is a chaos. Through my works, I invite the viewer to stop for a moment and consider chaotic life as something beautiful, unique, full of colorful stories,” said Yunuen Esparza, a participating artist who lives in Mexico City.

Another participating artist is Alfredo Zavala, a biologist and wine expert. He continually sees the problems threatening wildlife, which he said inspires him to dedicate his paintings and drawings to protecting the environment.

“I create purely abstract paintings as part of a study that I’m doing focusing on the theme of ‘Natura’ (women and protected species),” Zavala explained.

Leading chefs will participate in the festival. Renowned Tijuana chef Javier Plasencia, ambassador of Latin American cuisine in TV shows such as “The Taste,” will be on hand to promote his new restaurant in Little Italy, Bracero. Also on hand will be Chad White, a leading voice promoting Baja California cuisine in San Diego and owner of the East Village restaurant Común Kitchen.

Silfredo La O Vigo coordinates the festival’s cultural program. The artist, musician and dancer will star in a performance in which he paints to an Afro-Cuban rhythm.

The Latin American Art Festival is March 21 and 22, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at NTC Liberty Station, 2730 Historic Decatur Road, barracks 16, San Diego, CA 92106.
