Video: 96 Hours with Shaare Zedek’s Trauma Unit
During the recent wave of terror attacks, a news crew joined Dr. Ofer Merin, Deputy Director General and Director of Trauma Services at Shaare Zedek, and the staff of our Trauma Unit for 96 hours. They witnessed victims being brought in, our staff treating the wounded and supporting the families of the wounded.
Below some excerpts from their report (in Hebrew), “We were with staff of the Trauma Unit for 96 hours. We heard about victims whose lives changed completely, within seconds … heard about the fears, the thoughts, the difficulties,…Non-religious or ultra-religious, Jews or Muslims, left wing or right wing—at the moment of truth, all of the differences remain outside the walls of the hospital… [This is] a place where the staff fights to save the life of every wounded person without any consideration of religion, race or color of the skin…a place that alongside the difficult moments there is also fulfillment and happiness -like when three patients who were admitted in serious condition are released… During these four days, we were mainly witness to a staff that is extraordinarily caring and does above and beyond what is expected of them.”
