Geneval Worldwide has a pretty solid demand for Yiddish speakers for interpretation assignments all over NYC.
Geneva Worldwide is contracted by the State of New York to provide interpreters for a variety of government and state agencies. The majority of our everyday work that requires Yiddish speaking is for the Administration of Children’s Services. Case workers are often required to meet with families that can only communicate in Yiddish (that is the language they primarily request). We ask our interpreters to meet the family with the case worker to assist in Yiddish-English communication.
Previous experience is not required; we provide training for new interpreters. We only require two things: the individual must be completely fluent in English and Yiddish, and they must be authorized to work in the U.S. These assignments usually last less than one hour, but we always compensate for a 2-hour minimum.
