For three days this past week, a delegation of professionals from Israel visited programs of excellence for persons with disabilities in Mexico City. This group of more than 30 Jews, Christians and Moslems from Israel were received in Mexico City by the “Kadima” organization which both showed them their programs and made arrangements with colleague organizations to see programs in their facilities as well.
The delegation of about 35 professionals, were able to come to Mexico as part of the ongoing commitment of the quasi-governmental foundation, “The Improvements Fund” to sending professionals from private agencies which serve people with disabilities to see “best practices” in other countries.
Leading the delegation were Yoram Wakshak, the Chairperson of the association of private organizations that serve people with disabilities as well as the CEO of the Yedida organization and Yigal Nachtomi, the CEO of “Beit Eckstein” a private organization that serves people with disabilities. The professional portion of the program was organized by David B. Marcu, CEO of Israel Elwyn, a non-profit organization that serves more than 4,500 children and adults with disability throughout Israel and was coordinated with Lily Margolis, the Director of Kadima.
The group was greeted on its first day by Ms. Margolis and Avraham Cohen H, the President of Kadima, who were joined by the Israeli Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Jonathan Peled who spoke to the group about the Mexican Jewish Community as well as the excellent relations that Israel maintains with the government of Mexico.
Among the local organizations visited by the group (besides Kadima) were: APAC, Teleton CRIT, Confe and Kalimori.
The group expressed their appreciation for the quality of services provided by these fine agencies and for the commitment of their dedicated professionals.
