After five months clearing bureaucratic hurdles, the first late model Rolls-Royce automobile arrived in Israel on Tuesday, Israel’s Channel 10 reported.
The proud owner of the NIS 900,000 luxury car is Netivot resident Oded Shricky, one of southern Israel’s leading contractors. Not even the additional NIS 600,000 import tariff could wipe the smile from Shricky’s face, Channel 10 noted.
Shricky, an avid car collector, has no qualms about raising eyebrows with his latest purchase. In fact, he seems to revel in the attention of shocked onlookers.
“My Ferrari blinded their right eye and the Rolls Royce will gouge their left,” he said with a grin.
The Rolls-Royce that Shricky bought has a 6.6 liter engine and 570 horsepower. Its inside features leather covered upholstery, a mahogany finish and even an umbrella holder, Channel 10 reported.
However, since the Netivot construction king’s new toy is the only one of its kind in Israel, Shricky will have to bring in a special team of mechanics from Germany to perform basic maintenance on the car every 20,000 kilometers.
Shricky ended his interview with Channel 10 by climbing into his Rolls-Royce and taking it on its maiden voyage while Eyal Golan songs blared from the car’s sound system. Upon returning from his spin around the block, Shricky beamed with pride, saying, “Finally, Mizrahi music being pumped out of a car like this!”

Qué bueno que Israel ya es un país hypernormal. Qué triste que haya gente muriendo de hambre – de la misma comunidad de la de este Señor y él no tenga ni la más remota intención de ayudarles. Idea: si usa su auto nuevo como taxi de lujo podría presumírselo a más gente y con los ingresos financiar becas – o por lo menos alacenas de comida- para tantos judíos árabes que viven en la absoluta miseria en ese mismo país. Pero bueno, al fin Israel ya tiene su propio “Rey Naco”, solo le falta ponerle una cadena de oro y colgarse este auto del cuello.
