YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, New York City
June 26 – August 4, 2017
Spend six weeks immersed in Yiddish and discover 1,000 years of Jewish history.
Through language classes, seminars, theater workshops, sing-alongs, tours, and other activities throughout New York, you’ll explore the riches of the Yiddish language and Eastern European Jewish culture in its many contexts.
From Vilna to New York City, from the stories of Mendele Moykher-Sforim to the poetry of Anna Margolin, from lyrical folk tales to contemporary Yiddish music, learn about Yiddish culture in its wide diversity at YIVO’s home in New York City.
Partial scholarships are still available for all domestic and international applicants. In 2016, over 90% of students received some financial assistance. Contact Ben Kaplan if you have any questions or concerns about financial aid.
Applications are due April 3, 2017.
We hope to see you this summer!
*Undergraduate and Graduate students may be eligible for Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) summer fellowships. For more information, please contact your university or college department regarding the FLAS application and deadline.*
