Sunday, July 18th marks sixteen years since terrorists linked to the Iranian regime and Hezballah bombed the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) Jewish Community Centre in Buenos Aires, killing 85 people and injuring more than 300. To date, not one of the perpetrators has been brought to justice. B’nai Brith Canada’s Institute for International Affairs will host community commemoration ceremonies this week in Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg, in memory of the victims.
Community members and media are urged to attend the following remembrance ceremonies:

WINNIPEG

“The remembrance ceremonies honouring the AMIA victims signal to the world that we will not rest until the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice,” said Frank Dimant, Executive Vice President of B’nai Brith Canada. “Sixteen years have passed since this act of terrorism devastated the Buenos Aires Jewish community, but we remain no less resolved in our determination to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“It speaks volumes to the Iranian regime’s designation as the world’s top sponsor of terrorism that their defence minister today, Ahmad Vahidi, is on Interpol’s most-wanted listed for his role in the AMIA bombing. The terrorist regime in Tehran was involved in this bombing at the highest levels and the international community must stand together in demanding that all of the suspects in this terrorist attack sheltered in Iran are extradited to Argentina to face trial.”
