Letter to the nuns from Home

Dear ALL.

It has been almost a week or so since I came back. It feels longer, I may say. I had to take five flights back home, some of them very long.

As you may remember, we had to leave from Nepal before my original date, may 30th, because Nepal Airlines canceled my flight. That was the reason why we spent some days in Philippines, before my return.

Since i started my trip, I bought my flights and connections in order to get back home, to change them it was very difficult and expensive.

I still have jet lag and feel tired during the day.

The beautiful gilded Monkey Temple that I got from you, rests on my bookshelve. I carried it all the way back home by hand. It arrived in a perfect condition.

Each and every gift I got from all of you is in a special place. I love ALL of them. Dhamma Dina, the yellow Mandala is hanging on a frame. It’s color gives light to all the room.

Jayawati, the beautiful Buddha’s relief is in my home’s main entrance, hung by the door. I will send images soon, and the candle holder is by my books, with a small candle in it.

I’m using the pouches, the purses, bags, the agenda, pens and markers, the pillow cover… I’m using everything ! I keep the folded bills in my wallet, always by my side.

However, for me, and I know that for Ariela, my chori:), is the same, the most important and precious gift was getting to know each one of you.

When we arrived, we just saw shaved head’s women of different ages, and dressed with pink robes. We heard a language that we had never heard before, not one word was familiar…

We were living for the first time in a monastery where we ate some food that we had never seen before and lived with in a totally different schedule.

Faces, different and new faces every day.

Little by little, after our daily evening classes, those faces started to become known, they had gentle smiles. You had kind words and gestures towards us.

You pampered us every single day, evening after evening. If there were not Nepalese candies, there were Indian sweets, fruits, coffees, teas with milk or the delicious salty tangerine juices.

We felt your generosity, which we deeply appreciate until today.

Literally you opened your hearts to us.

We were luckily able to get to know each one of you and to become good friends. A very special bond was created among all of us.

Smiles, care, generosity and gratitude it’s what we got from you, even that each one is different from the other one.

Different faces, smiles, eyes and personalities. Different words and languages, but All of them very friendly and today deeply loved by us.

You can’t imagine how we treasure our friendship and very specially the prayers, chantings and blessings we received that last evening.

That white thread around my wrist is by the hand who’s writing you right now, it will be there…

Those memories in my heart and mind will stay forever.

The singing John Lennon’s “Imagine” together, your hunger and effort to learn, your attention and curiosity. The dancing and laughing, making exercises and clapping our hands while saying Bravo at the same time…. ALL of us, together…

The Nepalese lessons, your good humor. Your warmth.

We felt respected and loved.

We never, ever imagined that in a thirty days period of time something like this could be possibly created.

If you feel that you learned from us, let me tell you that also we learned from you so very much.

You are good spirit women. With your positive attitude you conquer hearts.

You live in a very humble atmosphere and show that the most important things in life like for example friendship, love, happiness, compassion, can not be bought.

With the bottom of my heart, which is always open for all and each one of you, as my house as well, I DEEPLY THANK YOU. DERY DERY DANIA BAD
