Yiddish for Beginners:
Yidish fun breyshis: Let’s Learn the Yiddish Alphabet Together!
A Yiddish alef-beys (alphabet) program, aimed for those with no prior Hebrew alphabet experience. We start with vowels and add on consonants each week.
Yiddish: Let’s Go! Yiddish Class Series for Beginners
A six-week beginner’s Yiddish language course that aims to give a beginner’s look at grammar, syntax, and style. This class is taught in English; Yiddish alef-beys literacy (ability to read Yiddish letters) is assumed for this class.
Yiddish Language Class – Beginner 2
A course for those who know some Yiddish already, but aren’t clear on language structure. We work on grammatical constructions from the very beginning while talking, reading, and writing. Time change: This class now meets at 9:30-11:00 a.m. PDT.
YAAANA Reading Circle for Beginners – Group A
A reading circle designed for those who have just learned how to read in Yiddish, or for those who want to improve their reading skills. We will be reading together the book Yiddishe Kinder Alef.
YAAANA Reading Circle for Beginners – Group B
This course is for students who have finished reading Yiddishe Kinder Alef and want to continue the saga.
Intermediate Classes:
Yiddish Language Class – Intermediate 1
Builds on the grammatical knowledge acquired during the Beginner 2 class or a similar Yiddish course.
Yiddish Language Class – Intermediate 2
If you know Yiddish pretty well and would like to continue improving in the language, then this course is for you! We study more complex grammatical structures.
Advanced Class:
Yiddish for Advanced Students
A conversation class designed for those who already read and speak Yiddish fluently and want to deepen their knowledge by discussing different topics each week.
