The availability of unbiased information aids in the pursuit of justice in prosecuting terrorist actions, such as the bombing of the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association center. It is also necessary to point out misleading articles about the Iranian government’s nuclear program, especially those promoting anti-Israeli sentiment.
CIEMPRE’s efforts to counter disinformation with credible reports and publications about growing threats to political freedom and human rights should be recognized.
Tracking reports of human rights abuses against activists and ethnic and religious minorities draws much needed attention to a serious problem. Such reporting exposes patterns of violence and terrorism, allowing others to take appropriate action. In addition, attempts to censor such information negatively impact the condition of people in Latin America.
