AJC has signed an association agreement with the Federation of Jewish Communities of Brazil (CONIB).

“This agreement is the confirmation of the work that has been done between our two communities and two institutions,” said CONIB President Fernando Lottenberg. “AJC delegations have come to Brazil, and we have been to AJC meetings in Washington and Miami. Working together we can learn from each other’s experiences and enhance the well-being of the Jewish people in Brazil and all over the world.”

The signing took place during a three-day conference marking the tenth anniversary of AJC’s Arthur and Rochelle Belfer Institute for Latino and Latin American Affairs. More than 150 Jewish and Latino leaders from the United States, Latin American countries, Spain and Portugal are attending the event in Mexico.
The agreement with CONIB is AJC’s 31st international agreement with Jewish communities and student organizations around the world. Nearly half are with Ibero-American Jewish communal organizations. In addition to Brazil, Jewish communities in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Spain, and Venezuela have accords with AJC.
