Register now for our online course on Soviet Yiddish culture
Yiddish Book Center — www.yiddishbookcenter.org
If you weren’t able to make it to the Yiddish Book Center last fall for our course on The Romance and Tragedy of Soviet Yiddish Culture, you’re in luck: you can register now for the online version of this course, an in-depth look at the lives of Soviet Jewish artists, writers, and culture-makers, and at the state that first empowered and then tried to destroy Yiddish culture.
Through lectures, readings, and online discussion, David Shneer, professor of Jewish studies at the University of Colorado Boulder, guides participants through the complex and compelling story of Yiddish in the Soviet Union.
The course runs October 12 to November 9, 2015; students watch, read, and respond to course materials at their convenience during that period.
